Franklin Pierce University provides students access to computing resources, including equipment and access to networks, as an integral part of the educational environment. The University computer network at the Rindge campus provides network and Internet access to all members of the Franklin Pierce community. Students use it for e-mail, coursework, professional development, and recreational activities.

COMPUTER LABS

On the Rindge campus:

  • Petrocelli Mac Lab
    Located on the 2nd floor of Petrocelli Hall
    Open for general use outside of scheduled classes
  • Marcucella 218
    Located on the 2nd floor of Marcucella Hall
    Open for general use outside of scheduled classes
  • Fitzwater 105 Mac Lab
    Located in the Fitzwater Center
    Open for general use outside of scheduled classes
  • Library Study Space (The Bray/lower library)
    this location has computers available 24 hours a day.
  • Computers are also available in various locations within the library during library hours.
WIFI ACCESS
WiFi

Wireless connectivity is available in classrooms, the Library, labs, residence halls, and other public spaces on the Rindge Campus. Your computer must have wireless capability in order to connect to the wireless network. For typical devices (phones, tablets, laptops) use the eduroam network.

You may connect computers, tablets, smart devices, or gaming systems to the wireless network. Personal wireless routers however are NOT permitted. Game consoles, smart TVs and other non-computer devices can be registered through the Help Desk to get internet access.

Hard-wired (ethernet) network connectivity is available in residential hall rooms on a limited basis.

COMPUTERS

The Help Desk provides basic support for student-owned machines, including:

  • Wireless configuration and connectivity
  • Operating system troubleshooting
  • Virus removal
  • Data backup assistance

If you are purchasing a new computer or hard drive, you may take advantage of an educational discount through GovConnection, GHA Associates or at the Apple Store. These sites will offer featured products at prices that reflect Education discounts.

SOFTWARE

All registered students have access to Microsoft's Office Online suite of applications as part of their Office365 subscription. This includes versions of Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint that can be run from any web browser.

Also, as part of the Office365 Suite you get Microsoft OneDrive. OneDrive gives each registered student subscribed to Office365 1 Terabyte of document storage space in the Microsoft cloud for the duration of their time with Franklin Pierce University. For more information about OneDrive click here

Antivirus is a very important application to have on your computer to protect yourself and those connected to the network with you from nasty virus infections. All computers connecting to the Franklin Pierce network should have some form of antivirus software installed.
